You wave goodbye at 8am and reappear at 5pm. In between is a mystery, occasionally summarised by a three-year-old as ‘nothing’. Here is what ‘nothing’ actually looks like at our Moorebank centre.

7:00–9:00: arrivals and breakfast

Early arrivals start with breakfast from the kitchen and quiet play while the rooms fill up. Educators check in with each family at the door — sleep, mood, anything to watch — and the day’s rhythm begins gently.

9:00–11:30: the golden hours

This is peak learning time. Indoor and outdoor play run in long, unhurried blocks: block towers, easels, the mud kitchen, climbing frame and garden beds. Educators move between children — extending an idea here, adding a new word there. Morning tea happens along the way, and a group time brings each room together for stories, songs and news.

11:30–12:30: lunch, made downstairs

Lunch is cooked fresh in the on-site kitchen. Children serve themselves where they can, pour their own water and clear their plates — the boring-sounding stuff that quietly builds independence.

12:30–2:30: rest

Sleepers sleep. Non-sleepers rest with books and quiet activities. Nobody is forced to nap; every routine follows what each child needs and what you have told us works at home.

2:30–6:00: the second wind

Afternoon tea, then back into play — often picking up the morning’s projects. As the day winds down, there is a late snack, calmer activities and the daily update lands in the parent app: photos, learning stories and the answers to ‘did they eat, did they sleep’.

Why the day is built this way

Long, uninterrupted play blocks are deliberate: they are where deep learning happens under the Early Years Learning Framework. The routine gives children security; the play gives them everything else.
