In the preschool years, children are ready to take their play further — to ask bigger questions, work on longer projects and get ready, in every sense, for school. Our preschool room gives them the space and the teaching to do it.

Learning built on play

Early literacy and numeracy live inside play here: signing in each morning, counting out fruit, recognising names, rhyming at group time, measuring in the sandpit. Children learn the foundations of reading, writing and maths because they are using them for things they care about.

Projects driven by children

When a child arrives fascinated by snails or space, educators build on it. Project work can run for weeks — researching, drawing, building and revisiting ideas — which is exactly the kind of sustained thinking school will ask of them.

Friendship, resilience and independence

Group times teach listening, turn-taking and speaking in front of others. Play teaches negotiation, sharing and bouncing back when things go wrong. By the time children leave us, they can manage their belongings, follow instructions and stand up for themselves kindly.

STEM, art and the outdoors

Construction, simple science, music and creative arts run all year, and the outdoor spaces — climbing frame, balance logs, garden beds and mud kitchen — are treated as classrooms in their own right.

The bridge to big school

The preschool room flows directly into our dedicated School Readiness Program, which focuses on the confidence, independence and self-regulation children need for kindergarten.
